Dear Journal,
Today, I want to write a story.
There was a little girl. Let's just call her girl. When she was three her little brother was born, the Apple of her eye. Let's call him bro.
When bro was born, girl was abused over a period of time by someone her mother knew. Her mother often beat her up and that was also bro's fate. The abuse, sexual by the guy and physical by her mother, caused girl to become an inward-looking dreamer.
When her mother beat up her brother, she guarded his body with hers not understanding her mother. When she grew up she learnt about depression. Her mother had been depressed as was girl.
Again, when she went to college a friend of her fathers started molesting her. She had unhappy relationships where men took advantage of her, not respecting her.
Her father didn't believe in her dreams. Her mother and father were both in denial. Girl was broken. As an adult, she lost many jobs and many men and many friends.
She felt broken, guilty and ashamed.
She was often angry with her parents. They never seemed to understand her.
Her parents took her to therapist after therapist, and all of them were egoistic, giving up on her. By this time girl had lost all her confidence and her self-esteem was at an all-time low. Sometimes she felt like dying.
When she was 37 she once reached out to an online helpline and a kind therapist explained so many things to her, one of which was she was not to blame herself. How? Girl didn't get it. If she was broken, she had a part to play in it. She had to fix herself.
It was then that she met tree, life-giving tree. He made her realise that she didn't need fixing, she wasn't broken, she was just a different shape from the other girls with each girl having a unique shape.
Girl began harbouring feelings for tree. Finally, on her 40th birthday, tree told her he loved her. Tree was all girl had ever wanted. He loved her and accepted her.
When girl was 40 she and tree got married. It was that year that girl got cast in an Indie film.
She won much acclaim for her performance. Oscars followed. Girl also wrote award-winning bestselling books. By the time she was 45, girl had a home of her own, a healthy wealthy bank balance and her parents were still around.
Bro and girl became best friends.
In 2042, girl won the biggest prize ever.
She thought about that time in 2022 when she was feeling so low. She was not broken. She was just a different shape.
Love,
Me.
